This week marks the 40th day of school. The days are passing by quickly. Like they say, "Time flies when you are having fun." Well, we are having a lot of fun together in KG. We are busy learning and working and yet we manage to have lots of fun at the same time. This week was no exception. Though it was short, we were very busy.
We continued our illustration study this week zooming in on one of our favorite author illustrators, Mo Willems. See the photo below that shows what kinds of craft moves that we noticed he uses in his beloved books. The children are beginning to try out some of these techniques in their own writing as well. Speech bubbles and motion lines are especially popular choices! We also read a book called, Beautiful Oops reminding us that mistakes are "cool" and we can either line them out, turn them into 'something wonderful' or just keep going! The children have really embraced this important aspect and have been very encouraging towards each other as well.
I really enjoyed meeting with all of you for your child's conference. This is an amazing group of children and we are fortunate to work with them each day. Thank you for all of your support at home.
I am heading back to the big SAISA swim meet to watch Maren and Serena and the TAISM Eagles go for gold!
Have a wonderful weekend,
Ms. Cori

Here are a few ideas for,,,
Children like to count things. Be on the look out for opportunities to practice this skill. Keep counting activities brief, fun and playful!
Here are some ideas to try-
Look and Count
Stand in front of your home. How many windows can you see? How many doors? Now count the windows and doors at the back. Which side has more windows? Which has fewer doors?
Skip, Jump and Count
Liven up walks by hopping, skipping and jumping a certain number of times. Say a number and show it by using your fingers. Then say, "Give me 3 hops" (or jumps or spins and so on) Change the number and the movements. Remember, one movement for each number.
Count Everything!
Count the floors of a high rise building, the cars stopped at a traffic light, ball bounces, jump rope counts and so on.
Count Up, Count Down
Count the number of stairs as you walk up. Then try counting backward as you go downstairs.
