Hats Off to Our Young Authors!

Dear Families,

We celebrated our young authors this week by having each child share one of his/her amazing beginning of KG books with friends from the other Kindergarten classrooms. One of the main goals for this writing unit was to build the children's confidence as authors/illustrators. Additionally, we work on early writing skills developmentally appropriate for each child's stage of writing. We are looking forward to working alongside your child as s/he explores the wonderful world of writing throughout this year!

I will send home the childrens' stack of books they made during our first unit. We have cleared out our folders and are ready to begin the next writing unit. It is a big stack of books and before I am ready to send the books home to you, I would like to make copies of some of these amazing books for future use as mentor texts. I will send your child's stack of writing as soon as possible. Be sure to take some time to have your child share these wonderful first books with you!

When you have an opportunity to stop by our classroom, you will see the piece of writing that your child selected to share on display.

Here are a few snapshots of our Sharing Celebration!

I am so proud of ALL

Making a SHAPE MONSTER Glyph.

What is a glyph? A glyph for kids uses pictures as a way to gather and depict data. Glyphs are often related to a theme. When completed, the finished project or glyph can be compared to the key (which tells what each part stands for) and can help you learn about the person who created the glyph.

Here is the key for our Shape Monster Glyphs

You can see more on display in the KG hallway.

That's all for now...it is time for me to go to the Coffee House in the Bosch center. :-) Looking forward to hearing all the amazing High School TAISM voices this afternoon. My daughter is singing with some friends too.

It's going to be a short week next week! I will let you know when I hear about the holiday being announced. Tomorrow, I will be spending the day working on MATH curriculum.
Enjoy your long weekend!

xx Ms. Cori
