Welcome back! I hope you had a great Fall holiday. I was so excited to see the children again on Tuesday. It was a happy reunion! I so missed this group of amazing kids.
Swimming!
One of the children's highlights from the week was SWIMMING!
They had one session in which they learned about life jacket safety.
They even learned how to hold the life jacket when jumping in deep water!
The children talked about how their hearts were pumping when they did this...they were proud of themselves and so excited to share with me that they had gone in the deep water! They also learned about floating and how to turn themselves to float on their backs.
During the next session, the children practiced bobbing, making bubbles, kicking, front crawl, floating and more.
Please make sure your child practices independently dressing themselves at home.
This really helps at school, especially in the locker room when getting ready for swimming!
READING
During our reading workshop we have been practicing building our stamina for "Read to Self". During this time, the children have been sitting at the tables. This week, we learned how to sit with a reading partner. For Read to Self, we sit back-to-back and for "Partner Time" we sit EEKK.
EEKK means...Elbow to Elbow and Knee to Knee.
Here we are practicing sitting back-to-back and EEKK.
We are reading this week's start word the in our Shoe Box books,
The Beach and The Pet Store.
We have a little poem to help us remember
how to spell our new star word the.
It goes like this...
You can say the
Or you can say thee
But you always have to spell it
T-H-E.
Welcome to our class Arthur!
Arthur and his family are joining us from Brazil. :-)
Choosing time fun...
Making up our own games,
Building letters with Big Line, Little Line & Big Curve and Little Curve.
Singing and marching with Big Line.
Building towers, towns, airports, trains and airplanes.
Using our imaginations, pretending, sharing and creating.
It's going to be a great week ahead!
We have Swimming in PE on Monday and Thursday this week.
Library book exchange is Wednesday.
Please be sure to send the September Reading at home page, if you haven't already.
Remember, Tuesday, 6 October is a half day. This means that your child will be dismissed at noon.
xx Ms. Cori
