Introducing Mr. Sameer. He has been creating with clay for more than 25 years. He uses clay that he gathers from local wadis. He builds models of traditional Omani houses, forts and also makes things on a pottery wheel. He created all of the molds that he brought for the children to use as well. Mr. Sameer showed the children how to press the clay into the mold, trim off the excess clay and then taught them the trick for getting the clay out of the mold. Currently the clay is drying and we hope to fire it in our kiln here at TAISM. The children will bring their piece home when it is ready. They are excited to show you their Khanjar, fort, palm tree, sunshine and Omani door pieces of work. Mr. Sameer was so grateful to help the children work with clay and be a part of our Discover Oman experience. The feeling was mutual...the children enjoyed his visit as well. :-)
Here we are writing about our Discover Oman experiences in our journals.
