Dear Families,
I just ran across a blog that had a bunch more ideas for sight word (Star word) practice at home! I thought they looked like fun and wanted to share with you in case you might be practicing our STAR words over the long winter holiday!?! They are from a blog called "Mom to 2 Posh Lil Divas."
Here you go...
This has to be the most fun we had reviewing sight words!
Kids will be begging you to practice sight words this way.
2. Use Sight Word Discovery Bottles
These are basically like playing "I Spy" in a bottle with sight words.
What's not to love?
So simple and fun. Just use craft sticks to spell out words
& put them together like puzzles.
What kid doesn't enjoy jumping on the furniture?
Let them jump on pillows and cushions &
practice their sight words at the same time.
Tactile & fun!
Practice spelling sight words in shaving cream.
This one can be played so many ways
but our fave way was definitely using fly swatters
to slap the sight words! FUN!
Use balloons, beach balls or other inflatables
to play Catch the Sight Word.
Another fun way to practice spelling sight words
is to use play dough, wikki stix, pipe cleaners, pebbles
or any other fun materials you have on hand.
Magnetic letters on a magnetic board = FUN!
Go ahead and practice those sight words on it too.
This is another one you can play so many different ways.
We have played many variations but one of our favorites
was definitely Rotten Apple!
Have fun practicing & learning
those sight words!
